Danica Dias, Grown Folks Founder & CEO

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Based in Los Angeles and a working mother of two young boys, Danica brings a fresh perspective to the alcohol industry with 20+ years of experience in food, beverage and hospitality.

For Danica, growing up, in a big Louisiana Creole family, the ability to gather together and indulge, was the epitome of being "grown," so adults were always referred to as "Grown Folks." Grown Folks in her family passed along black cultural traditions surrounding food and drink. With the growth of the RTD & craft beer categories, Danica saw a lack of products that spoke to her and her background and served diverse consumer needs. Danica’s mission was to craft products that could build on her family's culinary and cultural legacies, creating for consumers whose needs and preferences had historically been undervalued and underserved.

In 2021, Danica founded Grown Folks, the first black-owned and female-owned hard seltzer brand built from black culture and classic soul food-inspired flavors, while proudly and unapologetically prioritizing a “sweet” taste profile.
